There was an interesting post recently about Kublai Khan and his 5000 mastiffs. These hounds were not kept for petting and doggy-kisses, but for killing and mauling in warfare. They were weapons for the Mongol Empire to use against their hapless subjects. Apparently, war dogs were commonly employed in the ancient world.

Khublai Khan is the toughest band in the scene. Not the heaviest (although they are heavy as shit) but the toughest. I saw them with Knocked Loose earlier this year and never have I experienced a whole crowd go “ooooooohhh!!” when a breakdown hits just like I do with my friends. Great show.
