The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy addressed the French parliament on Friday as part of an official visit to France. Referring to reports that Vladimir Putin was ready to halt the war in Ukraine with a negotiated ceasefire that recognised the current battlefield lines, Zelenskiy said drawing temporary lines would only give Russia a pause before starting a new war. ‘Hitler crossed line after line. Putin is doing the same,’ he said. Zelenskiy’s speech comes a day after world leaders marked the 80th anniversary of the D-day landings, and after the French president, Emmanuel Macron, announced his country would provide Mirage 2000 warplanes to Ukraine
