Israeli tourists say a Middle Eastern mob, probably Palestinian, stormed their hotel in Crete, Greece, searching room by room for Jews after a confrontation escalated into violence in the early hours of Sunday.
The incident began after Israeli tourists were walking back to their hotel singing in Hebrew, when they were confronted by a group of men who shouted “F* Israel”** and “Free Palestine.” After the groups exchanged insults, additional men arrived at the hotel.
Witnesses revealed that the attackers threw glass bottles at the hotel, fired air rifles, entered the hotel and searched room by room for Israeli guests, banged on hotel doors while looking for Israelis, and left at least one tourist with a head injury.
One Israeli mother said her son, one of the tourists, feared he would not survive and sent her a farewell message: “Goodbye. I’m scared. A lot of Arabs have come because they know there are Jews here.”
