Israeli Foreign Minister @gidonsaar and his Venezuelan counterpart Félix Plasencia reached the agreement following weeks of talks, establishing a new coordination mechanism that will allow consular services to be provided to citizens of both countries.
The two governments also highlighted the historic role of Venezuela’s Jewish community as a “bridge of friendship” between Israel and Venezuela and agreed to continue bilateral technical cooperation that developed following Israel’s response to Venezuela’s devastating double earthquake in June.
The dramatic shift follows the removal of Nicolás Maduro by the United States in January and the installation of Delcy Rodríguez as Venezuela’s president, after which Caracas sharply changed its tone toward Israel.
