…because giving them security assurance is the agreement with the United States?…that’s literally what the US is SUPPOSED TO DO FOR UKRAINE. If America can not uphold its end of the bargain then they can not be trusted and Ukraine should be given back its nuclear weapons.

The Budapest Memorandum of 1994 did provide Ukraine with security assurances in exchange for giving up nuclear weapons, but it was not a legally binding security guarantee. The U.S. and U.K. did not promise military intervention if Ukraine’s sovereignty was threatened—
